The Weibelfeld School Trend Hub is a future-oriented educational platform that encourages students to think beyond the classroom and develop their own visions. As an interdisciplinary think tank, it provides a space for creative ideas that are showcased in a student magazine, on Instagram, or in the YouTube studio.
The goal is to establish a think tank & do tank (makerspace) – a place where ideas are not only conceived but also implemented.
The project operator
The Weibelfeld School
The Weibelfeld School is a cooperative comprehensive school with around 1,700 students. The secondary school, junior high school, and high school programs are run separately, but are closely linked in terms of organization and pedagogy, for example, through joint classes in religion, ethics, and elective subjects.
A special feature is the formation of study groups: in Mathematics and English, students can temporarily participate in classes at the next higher level. This prepares them for changing school branches and makes the transition easier. The program is aimed particularly at grades 7–9.
The upper secondary school is a three-year program (G9) and is divided into:
- Introductory phase (year 11) to prepare for the Q phase
- Qualification phase (years 12/13) with four half-years (Q1–Q4) as the basis for the Abitur
The school promotes individual educational paths and enables flexible career decisions through a clear structure and high permeability.
Friends of Weibelfeld School – Support Association
The Support Association of Weibelfeldschule e.V. is committed to promoting a lively and diverse school life. Through financial support, the association promotes projects and activities that go beyond the classroom and enrich everyday school life – particularly in the areas of music, culture, sports, and creativity.
The Association also helps where students need special support.
The Support Association is supported by committed parents, teachers, and friends of the school – who work on a voluntary basis to build a strong school community.
The Trend Hub Future Factory
The Trend Hub is an interdisciplinary school project that encourages students to think beyond the classroom and develop their own ideas for the future. The goal is to establish a Think Tank & Do Tank (Makerspace) – a space for creative thinking and practical implementation.
The innovative ideas of the Trend Hub are expressed through various media (the student magazine, an Instagram channel, and a YouTube studio, which are designed by enthusiastic students in elective and art classes as well as in extracurricular clubs).
A meeting room in the library is being redesigned as a creative space in collaboration with artist Tanja S. F. Hoffmann. At the same time, a Maker Space is being created where projects can be implemented using screen printing equipment, embroidery machines, and 3D printers. The design is being carried out with the support of photographer Melina Keil.
The project will run from 2024 to 2027 and will create a place where ideas become visible and young people learn to take on the challenges of the future and turn their dreams into reality. Knowledge, skills, and values necessary to achieve sustainable development will be further developed.
The different age groups create a unique atmosphere because all grades come together.

Creativity is how I use my thoughts to create a whole new world of my own. Creativity breaks down barriers!

This is where the future of learning shines through. It’s about future skills: communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. Together with the students, we have set out on a journey …

Why we are committed to the project
The Weibelfeld School has embarked on a journey toward future-oriented education with the participation of its students. The “Trend Hub” future factory with its Makerspace (Think Tank and Do Tank) is a very successful offering for the development of innovative and creative student projects that reflect sustainable, effective education.
Outlook
We are delighted to support this project for the next three years and wish the school community every success and much enjoyment in nurturing the young people’s spirit of discovery!
