In this open educational program, children discover their own creativity through building materials – without instruction or predetermined goals. They develop ideas for building and playing and implement them independently. In doing so, they practice important social skills: reaching agreements, negotiating compromises, coping with frustration, and resolving conflicts.
At the same time, they are active in the fresh air, in direct contact with nature. This allows them to experience themselves as independent and competent – and noticeably gain self-confidence in the process.
The project operator
For several years now, the two church communities have been implementing low-threshold, non-denominational programs for children and families in addition to traditional Christian formats such as confirmation classes. These include an open family café with changing themes, a cooking group, homework assistance, and much more.
The aim is to be visible as an institution in the social sphere, to respond to the needs of families and children, and to contribute to a supportive neighborhood.
Movement Construction Site
The movement construction site is aimed at children aged one to nine from Schönefeld, Großziethen, and the immediate neighborhood, each accompanied by an adult caregiver. Through free play with a variety of building materials, the children are active outdoors, experience nature on the grounds, and develop their own building and play ideas. In the process, they learn to be autonomous and competent, which strengthens their self-confidence in the long term.
Schönefeld and Großziethen, which are experiencing strong growth due to the influx of young families, are particularly lacking in local facilities for children. The movement playground creates an uncomplicated, spontaneously usable environment with a high level of appeal – regardless of gender, developmental stage, or language skills.
The children are accompanied by a psychomotor therapist who is present at eye level, only intervenes when necessary, and ensures safety. This allows them to play and build undisturbed and independently, while their parents remain consciously in the background.
Spacious open areas, drinks, and sanitary facilities are available for implementation.
We missed you so much! My son asked every day: When is the movement workshop finally coming back?

Why we are committed to the project
The concept clearly shows how the movement playground enables children to learn independently and autonomously. It is particularly noteworthy that the project is implemented outdoors and in direct contact with nature. The project is very much in line with our foundation’s vision and our understanding of sustainable, effective education.
Outlook
We are delighted to support children’s spirit of discovery with this project and hope that it will continue successfully in the coming years!
