The project operator

Stadtpiraten Freiburg (registered association) has been committed to the integration of refugee children and young people since 2009 (initially as an initiative) and was founded in 2015 as a recognized independent youth welfare organization. The aim is to give hope and create prospects by promoting talents and skills through group activities, vacation camps and workshops.

Every week, over 100 children and 40 teenagers take part in the programs, supported by volunteers who also build relationships with the families. Since 2019, integrative programs have promoted exchange on topics such as identity and the future. Through projects in art, music and education, the young people are actively involved in shaping urban society.

The [p3]-Werkstatt, founded in 2018, also offers training support and career prospects as an independent non-profit limited company.

Future Workshop for young refugees

The “Future workshop for young refugees” project is aimed at underage refugees aged 13 to 17. The aim is to provide the participants with comprehensive support, strengthen their personal development and open up concrete prospects for their future. The focus is on strengthening self-confidence, promoting self-determination and developing and implementing personal goals.

The project offers holistic support consisting of several components:

  • Strengthen self-confidence: The young people grapple with questions such as “Who am I?”, reflect on gender roles, body image and values, and discover their strengths and interests.
  • Individual learning support: In extracurricular activities, they improve their school performance and develop sustainable learning strategies.
  • Developing goals: Under the question “Where do I want to go?”, the young people formulate life goals and work on their intrinsic motivation to achieve them.
  • Strengthening self-organization: They learn how to pursue their goals with concrete, actionable steps and build self-competence.

The offerings include weekly meetings, vacation camps, workshops and mentoring. Volunteers, who are trained and supported by educational specialists, play a central role in the implementation. Through the project, participants gain self-confidence, clear goals and the knowledge of how to achieve them.

We are committed to ensuring that (refugee) children can exercise their right to protection, a child-friendly environment, education and good healthcare. At the same time, these children have huge potential – many gifts, skills and the key to integrating entire families. Investing in these children is right, important and forward-looking for our entire society. We are committed to this. We do our best for this. .
