HerausForderung e.V. is a contact point for cognitively gifted and highly gifted, highly sensitive and/or autonomous children and adolescents and their families in Dorsten and far beyond.
Here, affected families are offered free, low-threshold counseling and support options and a meeting place is created for highly gifted children and adolescents.
The project operator
The association HerausForderung e.V. closes a gap in the school education system for the above-mentioned children and adolescents and their parents, which presents special challenges. The association focuses primarily on underachievers (highly gifted underachievers) who hardly or not at all develop their potential at school and perform far below their potential. The reasons for this are as individual as the children and young people themselves. The association works on three levels:
- Counseling and support of the affected children and adolescents
- Counseling of parents and referral/funding for diagnostics (professionally qualified testing of IQ and other competencies)
- Training and consulting of teachers and schools with diagnostic possibilities, creation of suitable framework conditions and information about further support possibilities
The association is always in exchange with well-known educational scientists and advocates individual learning – for all children and young people regardless of their social background, as well as their individual competencies and abilities.
AbenteuerBus – The Adventure Bus
The AbenteuerBus is an office, counseling practice and games meeting place – the mobile center of the association. So far, it looks like an ordinary camper van and is to be made appealing and distinctive from the outside by means of a suitable foliation. With the association logo and the link to the homepage, the bus and the association will become more visible and better known to affected families and the public.
The concerns of the association, namely inclusion, educational justice and an objective, unagitated approach to the topic of “giftedness”, are to be repeatedly brought to the attention of the public through the rolling AbenteuerBus.

Why we are committed to the project
The founders of the association convinced us with their concern, because they are explicitly not concerned with elite education or with transporting as much knowledge as possible into particularly intelligent children and young people as quickly as possible. Instead, they see particularly intelligent children and young people as young people with many facets and a special profile. They want to help ensure that children and young people have a suitable learning environment that enables them to learn at their own pace and rhythm. In doing so, the whole child must be considered.
Giftedness is just one facet, albeit one that brings special challenges.

Outlook
Ms. Kasche and Dr. Marzian have already designed and implemented many offerings in two years. They are now being asked by schools for their expertise and have some more exciting projects planned. We are impressed by their commitment, knowledge and ideas. We would definitely like to stay in contact with the association and support further upcoming challenges.
